Despite the efforts of XIG, even the extremely technologically advanced fighter jets are overpowered by the monster. True enough to the prophecy, a strange phenomenon appears in the skies in Tokyo, which later turns out to be a gigantic monster, destroying a large area of the city. To protect the Earth, the Geocentric Universal Alliance against the Radical Destruction (G.U.A.R.D.) is set up, together with its combat wing, the eXpanded Interceptive Guardians (XIG). The Alchemy Stars, a group of young geniuses, develop the CRISIS, a prophetic supercomputer, which predicts that the world will be destroyed by an entity which brings radical destruction (根源的破滅招来体).
